Under the Sea

Chanel's Spring/Summer 2012 show was set to a backdrop of bubbles, oyster shells and sea horses all in white. Red haired mermaid Florence welsh, of Florence and The Machine, appeared in a clam shell to lure in the sailors too.
Pearls, iridescent sequins, chiffon and angelic white all hark back to the sea theme. Fabric wafts like seaweed in the sea. Structured shapes like coral are assembled to sleeves and on the skirts of dresses. The jacket above has a good crossover with pearl buttons keeping it all in place. The waffle type fabric could be the grid lines on a map and the irregular black square the area you have to search to find the hidden treasure.
A collection well done Mr Lagerfeld, wonderful materials, details with a story to tell.
